The application of lacquer on lace brings into being a timeless, refined and tactile combination of Western and Japanese arts & crafts.
Bruges lace was developed at the latest in the early 16th century and quickly became very important in the world of couture and as a symbol of status and power. Truly handmade Bruges lace of superior quality has become very rare.
Most of the lace we use on our Lace Urushi fountain pens is therefore antique and only available in very limited quantities. We exclusively use certified hand-made lace from Bruges.
